The Inspiration: We knew we wanted an outdoor fall ceremony for the crisp air and beautiful colours. Most of our guests (and ourselves) live in the Brockville area so the BCC was a perfect venue in terms of travel and their perfect fall views. Bonus: amazing food! I’m not huge on colour and wanted to focus on greys with lush greenery. I decided to go with a Vintage Rose bridesmaid dress colour to pair with the groomsmen’s grey suits. It was the perfect amount of subtle colour and contrasted well with the grey suits.

Flowers were an important big part of my day. I knew I wanted a unique bouquet focusing on texture and washed out purple/greys, with my favourite flowers, proteas! Marilyn at Colonial Flowers was so much fun to work with and added succulents to all of our bouquets to later plant. Even though it was a rainy/gloomy day, the rain held off for most of the ceremony and the photos turned out beautiful.

Moments to Remember: One memory that we’ll always remember is having Nik’s aunt officiate the wedding. It was nice having someone up there with us that we love! Secondly, I decided to make my own wedding cake. Although stressful, Nik helped me so much. I think that if you and your fiancé can make a wedding cake the day before your wedding and have a few laughs in the process, you can do anything... Seriously. An unexpected memory was having an uninvited co-worker/friend show up to the ceremony in a bridesmaid dress similar to my girls’- all in good humour!

Jessica's Dress Journey: My dress shopping experience at Lovebird couldn’t have been better. Myself and my bridesmaids worked with Emily who was fun and honest. I felt so comfortable with her. I knew that I wanted something form fitting with lace. The Stella York 6648 was absolutely perfect, and I knew it was “the one” a few dresses in. But that saying, my advice for new brides is to sleep on it! Enjoy the moment, don’t rush your decision, and try on different styles. Also, keep your group at the initial appointment small with opinions who mean most. Thank you, lovebird, for such a great experience!
