The inspiration: We wanted our wedding to be about our families coming together and having a great time, which is why Queen’s Landing was the perfect venue. We wanted to ensure everything could happen at one place, so people didn’t have to worry about getting from place to place, especially in the winter! We also really wanted to incorporate a taste of Kingston into our wedding, so our favours were some of our Kingston favourites – Kingston’s Favourite Coffee from Cooke’s, Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar from Kingston Olive & Co., and maple syrup from Sugar Hill Farm, plus one of our favourite snacks – Chicago Mix popcorn and custom M&Ms. We wanted our wedding to be a reflection of us, from the hints of sparkle everywhere, to the pictures of us on every table at different ages!
Moments to Remember: My maid of honour and I took a horse drawn carriage ride through Old Town Niagara-on-the-Lake together to have a last few calm moments before going to the first look. We included our maid of honour and best man in our first look, because they were very important people to us. Our first look was truly amazing. It was my first time seeing my fiancé in his military mess kit, and his first time seeing me in my dress. We had our first look at Fort George, which was the perfect location! On our way to the first look, I joked with our photographer about wanting 30 seconds of snow so we could have a beautiful photo with some falling snow. As we were taking our pictures, it started to sprinkle snow and it only lasted for about 30 seconds! I also got to wear my great grandmother’s fur coat, which my mom also wore on her wedding day.
Nicole & Adam's Advice: Try to stay on top of everything and be as organized as you can ahead of time! Being able to sit back and relax just before your wedding makes things so much more enjoyable!! A day-of planner was more than worth it!! They help to execute your vision on the actual day, and make sure that everything runs smoothly! They’re also great to have around when you encounter any day-of hiccups. Don’t sweat the small stuff! Enjoy your day and soak up as much of it as you can! Time flies by on your wedding day!
