The Inspiration: Pinterest was my actual saving grace when deciding my vision and colour schemes. I really wanted the vision to be ‘bohemian’ and ‘whimsical’ combined together. Ever since I was a little girl, I had imagined my wedding in the summer time with peonies and green trees surrounding me, so that is why I chose a June wedding. I also chose a June wedding for the temperature! I knew I didn’t want myself, my husband (still so weird to say!!), or our bridal party to be uncomfortable with hot July or August heat. We looked at many different venues but once we walked into Codes Mill, we both knew that it was the place that was meant for our wedding day. The space and aesthetic alone were huge selling points!
Moments to Remember: I don’t know if I could pinpoint a specific favourite moment, only because the whole day was honestly the best day of my entire life. But if I had to choose, I would have to say our first look together. It was such a special small moment of our day together. I will always remember being so nervous to walk up to him, only to see that he was nervous too. I will always remember his smile when he turned around and how everything else around us went quiet for a second. It made walking down the aisle so much more relaxed and he had already gotten to see me before our guests did, which was special! My first look with my Dad was memorable as well. He had asked many times over the past year and a half to see my dress, but I knew it would be a special moment once he finally got to see me in it. The smile (and tears) on his face will be something I will always remember. Having all of our family and friends celebrate our special day with us will always be something I think of when I think back to our big day. Watching everyone dance and laugh together was the best feeling.
Mallory's Advice: There is so much advice that I could give future brides that I wish I would have been given: plan your wedding the way YOU want to plan it. Accept suggestions from others but hire who you would like to hire, pick decorations that you would like, make the timeline of the day the way you want it to be. Don’t be afraid to not include kids on the guest invitations – you WILL get questioned as to why but don’t back down. Prepare yourself for the guest list! Stick to your decided final number – weddings are costly! But most importantly, take every moment in. Look around, take a deep breath. Take the slower parts of the day to really watch your guests and feel the love. It’s one of the biggest days of your life!
