Why do I need to make an appointment to try on wedding gowns? In order to have the full attention of our experienced bridal consultants, an appointment is necessary.
How long is a bridal appointment? Usually around an hour and a half.
What should I bring to my appointment? Pictures are always a great way to get a sense of what you’re looking for. You can also bring a pair of heels to wear while trying on gowns however, we do have some sample shoes for you in any case. A strapless bra is helpful when trying on strapless gowns. Lastly, bring an open mind! You may fall in love with a gown you never expected to like so be open to trying on different styles throughout your appointment.
Who should I bring to my appointment? Bring close friends and family who know you well and with whom you want to share this once in a lifetime experience with. Keep in mind, more than 4 people may take focus off of you.
What sample sizes are available to try on? Our sample gowns start at a size 6 and go up to a size 22. Keep in mind that Bridal sizing is different from what we usually wear. Always go up around two sizes.

BUYING How far in advance should I purchase my bridal gown? It’s best to allow 8-10 months before your wedding to order your gown, as it takes around 6 months to order and 2+ months for alterations.
How far in advance should I purchase my bridesmaid/mother gowns? It’s best to allow 5-6 months before your wedding to order bridesmaid/mother gowns, as it takes around 4 months to order and 1+ months for alterations.
How can I pay for my bridal gown? To order any gown, we require a 60% deposit. When your gown arrives at Lovebird, we will contact you to let you know. At that point we require the 40% balance to be paid within three weeks of the dress arriving. If you purchase a gown off the rack, a 100% payment must be completed before you can take the dress.
What are your bridal gowns priced at? Our gowns start at $900 and range up to $2700. It is the policy of the designers that we not give gown pricing over the phone or via email, but we can give a price range.
ALTERATIONS Are alterations extra and what is the approximate cost? Yes. Generally you will be spending $300 to $500 depending on how many changes you wish to make to your gown. However, basic alterations include taking up the length of your gown, adding the bustle, and taking in/letting out the gown to fit you perfectly.
When should I start my alterations? Ideally, your alterations should begin 2 months prior to your wedding, or 1 month for Bridesmaids, Mothers, and Formal gowns.
What should I bring to my fitting? It is important to bring the shoes and undergarments you plan on wearing on your wedding day.
How many fittings will I need? Usually, 3-4 fittings are required to ensure your gown is perfect. The seamstress should steam and pack your dress for you following the final fitting.
What is a trunk show? A trunk show is a special in-store event where you can view and purchase the newest designer collections before they become available to the public. If you find your dream gown, be prepared to make a decision that day as the gown will not be in store once the trunk show is over.
What is a sample sale? Lovebird Bridal Boutique offers select sample gowns at a discounted price twice a year to make room for newer bridal gowns. Sample sales are a perfect opportunity to purchase a near perfect gown at a fraction of the cost. We always have a rack filled with sample sale gowns throughout the year as well.
